Gunung Agung's summit sits at a lofty height and towers over all Bali's other summits. The climb is not as difficult as it may seem but it takes a certain level of stamina, fitness, and perseverance. The climb starts off at about 2am and you reach the summit around sunrise. It is essential to do the climb before the sun gets too high, or else the going will get tough. Also remember to report to the local police station at Selat before the expedition and that it is compulsory to take a guide with you at all times. There are many more tour options in Bali. One is the fabulous Menjangan Island tour. This involves venturing into west Bali's national park, and also taking a boat out to a small coral island surrounded by Bali's clearest and most marine rich waters. Diving and snorkeling enthusiasts really must try this out as it is also one of the only places in Bali where you can experience a drop-off reef that drops vertically from 3meters down to approximately 30 meters and is alive with fishes and corals.
